Our first Challenge, since re-commencing operations in Stoke-on-Trent, was to donate £500 to the STAFFORDSHIRE BADGER CONSERVATION GROUP to help finance a recent purchase of catching and holding equipment. This kind of equipment is vital to catch and contain injured badgers or any badgers requiring relocation.
Our second Challenge was to donate £500 to the BARN OWL TRUST for the ongoing costs associated with the day-to-day running of its centre. Housing, feeding, cleaning, vets and medical supplies.... the list is endless.
Our third Challenge was to donate £3,000 to the SECRET WORLD WILDLIFE RESCUE, run by Pauline Kidner, to re-design and rebuild a large aviary which had been severely damaged by storms.
The fourth Challenge was to donate £1,000 to The Cedar Wildlife Sanctuary, run by Wendy Radford in Kirkby in Ashfield, to help fund a new hospital and solve a waste disposal problem.
The fifth Challenge was a donation of £1,000 to the Badger Trust to assist with the cost of producing their next newsletter. The total cost to the Trust is approx £3,000. The Trust is currently protesting to the government over plans for badger culls.
